“If It Weren’t for You, I Wouldn’t Have Been Able To Buy Coal for the Winter Myself”

The Foundation has been providing financial assistance to vulnerable groups in Kherson and Mykolaiv for quite some time now. As part of this process, we traveled through the communities of these oblasts to register local residents for assistance. Our team strives to make receiving assistance safer and more convenient, always paying close attention to the registration and fund distribution procedures. Therefore, it is always gratifying to hear from those we help that everything went well.

Ms. Olha from the Snihurivska community in Mykolaivska Oblast (name changed for security reasons), who has already received the money, shared that the registration process for receiving assistance was very well-organized: there were no lines, everything was clearly explained to her, and her data was quickly entered. She happily said that the wait for the money was not long — about a week and a half.

“I received the assistance very quickly, and while I was waiting, I immediately decided how to spend it. I didn’t have enough savings to buy fuel for the house. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to buy coal for the winter myself, so I am very happy and grateful to you. I don’t know how I would have done it alone, as most of my pension goes towards treatment,” explains Olha.

The woman underwent thyroid surgery and now needs to take medication continuously. Incidentally, this was what forced her to leave her home village during its occupation, as the necessary medicines were not available at home.

Ms. Olha received the funds thanks to the Addressing the Immediate Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Needs of IDPs and Conflict-Affected Populations Inside Ukraine project, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” together with the humanitarian organization CARE Ukraine and the Response Consortium with the financial support of the USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
