A large family of athletes from Novooleksandrivka, Zaporizka Oblast, continues to play sports despite the war. The father, Oleksiy (name changed), is an experienced unarmed combat coach, and his children are talented athletes. His two older sons are candidates for master of sports of Ukraine in unarmed combat, world champions in multisport, and his younger daughter, who is 6 years old, is already a prize winner in the martial arts championship in Zaporizhzhia.
However, like most Ukrainians, the family has been facing challenges due to Russia’s full-scale invasion.
According to Oleksiy, Novooleksandrivka is not being shelled at the moment, but they can hear the neighboring settlements suffering from Russian shelling.
Despite all the circumstances, the family remains in Ukraine to contribute to the country’s recovery. Oleksiy continues to train his children, and they, in turn, strive for new sporting achievements and dream of winning competitions. They are a true inspiration for us.
This is why the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” delivered individual hygiene kits to the family as part of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project. This kit turned out to be an excellent asset, as now the children will always have everything they need to take care of themselves, especially during competitions and trips to training camps.
This project is being implemented by the CF SSS together with the international organization CARE with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (Danida).
