Iziumvodokanal Receives Equipment for Independent Cable Damage Detection: A First Successful Experience

In July 2025, the Energy Service of IKVVKP (Izium Municipal Production Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise) carried out its first-ever independent technical operation to locate a power cable fault supplying one of the key wells of the Izium water intake facility.

This case marks an important milestone, as similar incidents previously required the involvement of external specialists or were handled through a trial-and-error approach. Both options were time-consuming, resource-intensive, and carried risks for the stable operation of the entire water supply system.

Thanks to our support, the enterprise received modern technical equipment for accurately locating faults in power cable lines. From now on, Iziumvodokanal can independently perform diagnostics and emergency repair work, significantly reducing response times and minimizing water supply interruptions for the community.

This achievement became possible within the framework of the project “Strengthening the resilience and protection of conflict-affected people, communities and systems in central and eastern Ukraine”, which aims to support communities impacted by the full-scale war.

“After communication with local authorities and coordination with the WASH Cluster, we received an official request letter from Iziumvodokanal. It included a detailed list of required equipment and consumables. We procured everything necessary and handed it over to the enterprise,” — said Anton Malinin, water supply recovery expert.

For towns located in areas of constant threat or already affected by destruction, the ability to quickly and independently respond to technical issues is not just about efficiency — it’s about safety. Reliable access to water is critical for hospitals, shelters, schools, and residential buildings. And every step toward self-sufficiency of local utility services is a step toward strengthening the entire community.

The Strengthening Resilience and Protection of Conflict-Affected Individuals, Communities, and Systems in Central and Eastern Ukraine project is implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
