Strengthening Resilience and Protection of Conflict-Affected Individuals, Communities, and Systems in Central and Eastern Ukraine

We have launched the Strengthening Resilience and Protection of Conflict-Affected Individuals, Communities, and Systems in Central and Eastern Ukraine project in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization CARE and with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The project encompasses not only the repair of private housing and restoration of municipal enterprises that provide services to the community but also the establishment of community centers that will unite local activists. Our Foundation will train these activists to create their own projects for community rebuilding, providing them with grants and other forms of support to implement their initiatives. Special attention will be given to women, IDPs, the Roma community, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. The project will be carried out in seven raions of Dnipropetrovska, Kharkivska, and Zaporizka oblasts.

“In these regions, we have been implementing humanitarian projects since the onset of the full-scale invasion. We have been assisting people with essential needs such as water, hygiene and food kits. This new project takes a more comprehensive approach to help strengthen communities and institutions, teaching activists to independently attract partners and implement projects without waiting for outside assistance,” explains project coordinator Yuliya Suchok.

Activities planned under the project include:

  • Repair of 410 housing units to restore dignified living conditions;
  • Repair of 16 municipal facilities to improve the provision of critical services and ensure inclusive, barrier-free, and gender-sensitive environments;
  • Repair of 4 water utilities damaged during the war, ensuring clean and safe drinking water for residents in the seven aforementioned raions;
  • Creation and support of 5 community centers, including representatives of IDP Councils, women’s associations, and other vulnerable groups requiring support;
  • Enhancing participation of representatives from 5 community centers, IDP Councils, and civil society in the development of recovery plans;
  • Provision of 25 small-scale grants and technical support to community centers and IDP Councils for implementing recovery initiatives aligned with official planning and budget allocation processes.

Representatives of local authorities will primarily be involved in these initiatives, facilitating the implementation of project tasks and addressing the current needs of the population.

The Strengthening Resilience and Protection of Conflict-Affected Individuals, Communities, and Systems in Central and Eastern Ukraine project is implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
