On June 17, Kyiv hosted the “Human capital dimension at the URC 2025. Focusing on Return and Recovery” forum, a key event in the lead-up to the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2025) in Rome this July 10-11. The event gathered over 1,000 participants, including Ukrainian government officials, civil society representatives, international partners, and Ukrainians displaced both internally and abroad.
Ukraine’s recovery is, above all, about its people. Yet, as the country’s future is discussed on the world stage, the voices of millions of displaced Ukrainians go unheard. Their representatives, particularly the IDP Councils, have virtually no agency or influence over key decisions. That is why the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” has made it its mission to amplify their voices at every level, especially at the upcoming URC 2025.
According to Valeriia Vershynina, the Executive Director of the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services,” the dialogue on recovery cannot be complete without the voices of those it directly affects.
“The voices of internally displaced persons must be heard at the URC. The voices of the IDP Councils must be part of the URC. Unfortunately, for the third year running, they have been excluded from this process. I truly hope the URC will finally feature a dedicated panel and include the participation of the IDP Councils. For four years, we have been discussing the Ukraine’s incredible diversity, yet the experience of internal displacement continues to be overlooked in the recovery process,” emphasized Valeriia Vershynina.
The ideas, insights, and solutions developed during the forum will form the foundation of Ukraine’s position at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome this July 10-11.
The “Human Capital Dimension at the URC 2025. Focusing on Return and Recovery” forum was organized by the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine and hosted by the Center for Economic Recovery, with support from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine, and the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services.”
