Endless air raid sirens, loud artillery shelling, and constant problems with food and water supplies are everyday realities for regions affected by Russian aggression. However, it is precisely these people, who have experienced war firsthand, who need to take care of the sanitary and hygienic needs of their families, especially families with small children and people with special needs.

To provide access to simple things that add a sense of normal life, cleanliness, and care, the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation and the German humanitarian organization Sign of Hope have jointly organized a laundry and shower facility. These are two specially equipped mobile complexes that travel daily to villages near the front line in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

In these complexes, people can wash and dry their clothes for free. Each complex has two washing machines and a dryer. All the necessary work is done by assistants. While their clothes are being washed, people have the opportunity to take a shower. All visitors receive a free hygiene kit, including shower gel, shampoo, and soap, on the spot.

Ms. Nadiya (name changed for security reasons) is not using the mobile laundry service for the first time. She says that as soon as she finds out that the complex is coming to the village, she is very happy, because there are always bags of laundry waiting to be washed.

“It’s such a help for us, you can’t even imagine! In our village, the water is the color of fruit juice, so it’s impossible to wash clothes or bathe properly. That’s why when the complex arrives, we go there with the whole family. While our clothes are being washed and dried, we all take a bath. There is soap and shampoo, so we don’t need to bring anything with us. We are very happy, and not just me, but our whole village,” says Nadiya happily.

In the last five months of 2025 alone, 6,473 people have already received our help and been able to do their laundry and take a shower. However, in order to cover more settlements that need our help and ensure the continuous operation of the complexes, additional funds are needed.

Therefore, the SSS Charitable Foundation has announced a fundraiser for hygiene products for residents of the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

The money raised will help us modernize laundry facilities and maintain the technical condition of equipment that is used daily and travels on poor roads in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, which are subject to heavy loads. In addition, part of the funds raised will be spent on transporting the facilities to remote communities, which accounts for a large portion of the expenses.

Thus, all these measures will help us to continuously maintain the minimum hygiene conditions required by people in the frontline villages of the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

The mobile social laundry operates as part of a project implemented by the Charitable Organization “Stabilization Support Services” and the German humanitarian organization “Sign of Hope” with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
