Every day, our team works to strengthen Ukraine’s social protection system. We provide legal assistance, support IDP Councils, and collaborate with communities and government institutions to ensure that every person affected by the war feels supported and has access to necessary social services.
🔎 We are sharing the key achievements of our regional teams for May, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine. This is just a part of our daily work aimed at helping people across the country.
1️⃣ Volynska Oblast: Provided mentorship and coordination support to IDP initiative groups in the Manevychi and Ustyluh communities, including advising on the preparation of documents for establishing IDP Councils.
2️⃣ Dnipropetrovska Oblast: Organized a three-day online training for over 100 social sector professionals on the topic “Using the Electronic Cabinet of Social Services and the ‘Case Management’ Tool.”
3️⃣ Zaporizka Oblast: Conducted a two-day training on preventing professional burnout for 20 employees of social institutions, providing them with tools to care for their mental health.
4️⃣ Ivano-Frankivska Oblast: Our Foundation’s forum, “The Social Sphere During Wartime: Regional Experience, Challenges, and Prospects for Communities in Ivano-Frankivska Oblast,” spurred the launch of new social services in communities, including daytime care for children with disabilities, and strengthened cooperation between non-governmental organizations, authorities, and state institutions.
5️⃣ Kyivska Oblast: Provided legal support to IDPs regarding payments: we thoroughly explained the procedure for registering at the employment center and helped them navigate the process of applying for a one-time financial assistance payment.
6️⃣ Lvivska Oblast: Assisted a repeatedly displaced woman with an infant in securing her right to payments. The Foundation’s lawyers explained that her case is a legislative exception and that she is entitled to assistance.
7️⃣ Mykolaivska Oblast: Provided legal assistance to a displaced woman, enabling her to obtain a court order for the collection of child support payments.
8️⃣ Khmelnytska Oblast: Supported a meeting of the oblast’s IDP Councils, where a proposal was made to create a unified communication platform for all displaced persons in the region.
9️⃣ Cherkaska Oblast: Following our legal consultation, a displaced woman who had lived in a house unfit for human habitation for three years was registered on the waiting list for housing.
🔟 Chernihivska Oblast: Provided comprehensive legal support to a woman who was severely injured during an evacuation and is currently abroad. This support enabled her to legally establish the fact of her injury, which entitles her to the status of a person with a disability resulting from the war.
We will continue to help improve the social protection system in our target communities. We are implementing these initiatives through the Support to the Capacity of Government Institutions and Local Communities to Strengthen Social Protection Systems in Ukraine project, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
