Our team works daily to support internally displaced persons: we provide legal consultations, support IDP Councils, and develop strategies to strengthen the social protection system. We join efforts with local communities and government institutions to ensure that every person forced to leave their home receives the necessary assistance and support.
? We selected 10 oblasts and compiled February’s key achievements to illustrate the results of our joint efforts with @UNHCRKyiv. This is just a part of our team’s daily work aimed at supporting IDPs across Ukraine.
1️⃣ Vinnytska Oblast – we organized an open session of the IDP Council in the Khmelnytskyi City Territorial Community together with partners to spread awareness about its activities and involve more IDPs in addressing local issues.
2️⃣ Volynska Oblast — we helped IDP Kateryna S. (name changed) resolve an issue with the state registration of property rights for a home located in an occupied territory, providing her with legal support.
3️⃣ Zaporizka Oblast – we held a coordination meeting with Kushuhumska community, agreeing to conduct mobile legal consultations for IDPs, expanding our partnership network. Additionally, we assisted IDPs in resuming pension payments and resolving inheritance matters.
4️⃣ Ivano-Frankivska Oblast – we conducted advocacy efforts, leading to the inclusion of IDPs in local social support programs on equal terms with local residents. We also organized a seminar on extending housing assistance for IDPs.
5️⃣ Kyivska Oblast – we provided legal assistance to a woman who was a victim of extortion at a hospital, ensuring her access to free medical care and necessary social support.
6️⃣ Odeska Oblast – we provided legal consultation to an IDP regarding damaged property, helping her annul a previous claim and submit a new one for compensation.
7️⃣ Rivnenska Oblast – we assisted IDP Oleksandr L. in restoring lost educational documents, enabling him to request his diploma from the educational institution.
8️⃣ Ternopilska Oblast – we ]helped place a 94-year-old IDP woman in a nursing home, ensuring her access to necessary social support.
9️⃣ Kharkivska Oblast – we held three IDP Council meetings in local communities, addressing housing assistance payments and restoring benefits for IDPs whose homes were destroyed.
? Khersonska Oblast – we supported an IDP who relocated from Kherson to Kropyvnytskyi, assisting her in restoring the heating in her apartment, where she lives with her minor child.
We will continue working to improve the social protection system in target communities. These initiatives are part of the Support to the Capacity of Government Institutions and Local Communities To Strengthen Social Protection Systems in Ukraine project, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
