The team at the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the Charitable Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” and the German humanitarian organization “Sign of Hope” with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), is wrapping up a large-scale project—“Comprehensive Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons, Non-Displaced Persons Affected by War, and Those Who Returned to Ukraine through the Provision of Protection, Psychosocial and Cash Assistance, Housing, and WASH Services.”
The project lasted nearly two years, from 2024 to 2026, and included numerous activities carried out in communities in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
During the project, our team launched:
- Mobile laundry and shower facilities
Two specially equipped facilities were in operation in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. They were equipped with shower stalls, washing machines, dryers, and a water supply to provide these services. They operated both on mains power and on their own power source (a generator). Using these complexes, people could wash and dry their clothes, as well as take a free shower and receive a free hygiene kit.
- Stationary Laundromat
A stationary laundromat operated in the town of Snigurivka in the Mykolaiv region. It was equipped with 4 washing machines and 2 dryers. Residents of the town and neighboring communities could bring their clothes here free of charge to be washed and dried.
- Social Hub
A social center operated in the city of Mykolaiv, where people could access sewing services, minor home repairs, rent tools, and call in repair professionals to their homes.
- Legal Consultations
Residents of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions had the opportunity to receive free legal aid. These consultations were aimed at resolving urgent legal issues affecting the population affected by the war.
According to Anna Borisova, Director of Humanitarian Programs at the “Stabilization Support Services” Charitable Foundation and project manager, the Foundation’s team faced numerous difficulties and challenges during the implementation of the project.
“I suppose no one expected this winter to be so cold and snowy. Due to low temperatures, shelling, and prolonged power outages, it was often difficult for our facilities to reach populated areas. The laundry facility in Snigurivka began experiencing water supply interruptions. The sewing and construction departments at the hub in Mykolaiv were unable to operate at full capacity due to power outages. “But thanks to the joint efforts and coordinated work of the entire team, we managed to overcome all challenges. I sincerely thank our partners and everyone who participated in implementing this important project. Together, we managed to achieve our goals and provide as much assistance as possible to residents of frontline communities who needed it most,” — emphasizes Anna Borisova.
As part of the project, the following people benefited from its services:
- 25,000+ residents of the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions used the mobile laundries and showers;
- 24,000+ people visited the stationary laundry in Snigurivka;
- 5,500+ people received household assistance and services at the Mykolaiv hub;
- 2,000+ people received free legal consultations.
According to Anna Borisova, even after the project ends, some of its activities will continue. The mobile units will travel to assist the Kherson region, the stationary laundry facility in Snigurivka has been left to the community, and the hub in Mykolaiv will continue to welcome visitors.
