Residents of Komyshuvakha in Zaporizka Oblast Receive Non-Food Kits from Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services

In the village of Komyshuvakha in Zaporizka Oblast, residents whose homes were destroyed received humanitarian aid comprising non-food kits. One kit includes a hand lamp, a power bank, a portable single-burner gas stove with 4 cylinders, a thermal cup with a lid, a portable table lamp, a set of towels, rags, and a jerry can.

– “Komyshuvakha suffers from frequent shelling. They have problems with electricity and communication, and their houses are damaged. We will continue to do our best to take care of the residents of this community. To ensure that they continue to receive support,” said Oksana Levada, regional coordinator in Zaporizhzhia.

The Komyshuvakha community includes 7 starosta districts and a central district with two villages, Komyshuvakha and Odarivka. The community consists of 30 villages with a population of about 8,000 people. There are currently only about 4,500 people living there, but this is according to the estimates of the humanitarian center where the aid is distributed. This is the data collected by volunteers based on requests. The community is also home to about a thousand IDPs from Huliaipillia, Vasylivka, Melitopol, and Orikhiv,” said Tetiana Zdorenko, a representative of the humanitarian center where the non-food kits were distributed.

— “The NFI kits distributed by the SSS team are very good. Their contents, namely the gas stove and power banks, are of great help to people here,” added Tatiana.

According to her, there are already cases of people returning to their homes. However, it is still dangerous, and the community has recorded much destruction due to the fighting.

Humanitarian aid is distributed promptly, as there is a chance of coming under fire. So the distribution takes place quickly, and residents who have registered receive a text message with the time and place where they can receive the kits. They are distributed immediately after the documents are checked. Our team is constantly trying to increase the pace of distribution of humanitarian aid kits to avoid endangering people.

The CF SSS team distributed the aid as part of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project, implemented with the support of the international humanitarian organization CARE and with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

The project is aimed at rapid response to the needs of the population affected by the war in remote areas of Khersonska, Zaporizka and Mykolaivska oblasts. To help the residents of frontline towns and villages, the Foundation’s team travels to dangerous areas to provide assistance to the residents.
