The Charitable Organization “Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” provided financial assistance to residents of the Orikhivska community. The assistance was provided to people with disability groups I and II and their families.
The financial assistance amounts to UAH 10,800 per person and is intended for three months. To implement this project, the team of the CF SSS held a series of meetings with representatives of the authorities, social protection institutions, and local NGOs to discuss cooperation and support in the program’s implementation, and also visited collective centers housing IDPs. So far, 567 people have received the assistance.
Among the program participants was Serhiy Mykolayovych. His daughter has a group I disability. The family moved to Zaporizhzhia and rented an apartment there because barely anything was left of their household in their native Orikhiv: the roof and yard were damaged.
“We needed money to cover the rent and buy medicines,” says Serhiy Mykolayovych. “We learned from the head of the community that we could get help from the Charitable Foundation. We registered, talked to the staff; everyone was very friendly and eager to guide us in our next steps. After that, literally in two weeks, the money was transferred to our card. We are very grateful for that.”
It should be noted that the Orikhivska community of Zaporizka Oblast is located on the frontline. It was home to about nineteen thousand people before the full-scale invasion, with more than fourteen thousand living in the city. Now, only 1,165 residents remain in the city, and 1,370 in the community.
The assistance program is part of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” together with the international humanitarian organization CARE with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
