Selection of Institutions in Need of Repair Underway

This year, the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” is implementing a new project, Provision of Lifesaving Winterization, NFI, and Shelter Support to Conflict Affected Populations in Ukraine. One of its objectives is to renovate 10 war-affected institutions in Zaporika and Khersonska oblasts. Oksana Levada, regional coordinator of the CF SSS in Zaporizka Oblast, explained that the team is actively engaged in selecting the institutions that are in need of such assistance. According to her, the repairs will begin only after we receive complete and verified information about the social institutions that were damaged due to Russian aggression.

“In the selection process, we consider how critical the institution is for the community. For example, we are currently studying the needs of healthcare institutions in the southern regions where the provision of quality medical services is currently hampered. Zaporizhzhia Primary Health Care Center No. 2 is one of them,” Oksana Levada said.

This medical center consists of nine outpatient clinics, one of which is a children’s clinic. The latter suffered the most from missile attacks last year. Doctors work here daily despite the broken windows and doors and damaged walls and equipment. The facility provides all types of outpatient care, including vaccinations for nearly 8,000 children.

According to Marharyta Kolchyna, deputy medical director, the doctors have already become accustomed to such challenging working conditions, but they want better for the children.

“Due to the explosions, our outpatient clinic still has broken windows and cracked plaster on the walls, and several rooms require major repairs. Of course, treating children in damaged premises is impossible, so doctors are currently forced to share offices. We have been working in such conditions all winter,” shared Marharyta Kolchyna.

She also added that the staff hopes for donors’ support and assistance to the outpatient clinic, as they are anxious to provide decent conditions for children above all.

The Provision of Lifesaving Winterization, NFI, and Shelter Support to Conflict Affected Populations in Ukraine project is being implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE with the support of NACHBAR IN NOT.
