Kryvyi Rih City Center for Social Services (Dnipropetrovska Oblast) received two electric and four mechanical bicycles

In 2025, our Foundation distributed 223 two-wheeled and three-wheeled electric and mechanical bicycles to 72 social protection institutions across 23 oblasts.

The transferred bicycles have become helpers for social workers who provide social services to older people and people with disabilities, including IDPs, who live in remote corners of communities and have partially or fully lost the ability to care for themselves. Social workers deliver groceries and medications to such individuals, run small errands for them, and assist with household chores.

Modern bicycles with spacious baskets enable quick movement between villages and the transportation of packages weighing 10–20 kg. In frontline communities, thanks to such transport, dangerous sections of the road can be crossed more quickly.

We are sharing feedback from several communities that received such support.

Territorial Center for Social Services (Provision of Social Services) of the Bahacheve City Council (Cherkaska Oblast) received two electric bicycles

Oleksandr Zaborovets, Bahacheve City Mayor:

“Deep gratitude to your foundation. The bicycles will reduce the physical burden on social workers. With their help, everything necessary will be delivered on time and quickly. Social workers will be able to devote more time to those who need care, rather than spending it on the road.”

Center for the Provision of Social Services of Ponornytsia Settlement Council (Chernihivska Oblast) received three electric bicycles

Olena Kryvopusk, Director of the Center for the Provision of Social Services of the Ponornytsia Settlement Council:

“The Ponornytsia community is located not far from the border with the aggressor state, but it is currently more or less safe there. It consists of 16 settlements. The community hosts many IDPs from neighboring communities where active hostilities are taking place. Having received three electric bicycles, the institution’s specialists will be able to respond more quickly to social service needs, and the services themselves will become more accessible. We express our sincere gratitude to the Charity Foundation ‘Stabilization Support Services’ and hope for further cooperation.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of Novomykolaivka Settlement Council (Zaporizka Oblast) received five electric bicycles

Nataliia Prykhodko, Director of the Center for the Provision of Social Services of the Novomykolaivka Settlement Council

“There are 54 villages in our community, and the distance from one to another is 15 km. Our social workers do not use public transportation, as the free bus service runs between villages only once a week. They travel exclusively by bicycle. Social workers provide the most necessary, most important service—home care—because it is received by the most disadvantaged segments of the population: people with disabilities, those with limited mobility, people with chronic illnesses, older people, and single people or those living alone who require constant care. The average distance between clients is approximately 5 km. A social worker spends significantly more time and energy riding a mechanical bicycle than an electric one. That is why the bicycles provided by the CF SSS and UNHCR are a great help to our center. On behalf of all the institution’s employees, I express great gratitude for the timely and much-needed assistance provided.”

City Territorial Center for Social Services (Provision of Social Services) of the Mykolaiv City Council received two electric bicycles

Olena Kaplii, Regional Project Coordinator in Mykolaivska Oblast:

“Since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia, the Mykolaiv community has been constantly under missile fire. One of the most remote and affected districts of the city is Korabelnyi. It includes several distant neighborhoods where public transport does not cover the necessary territory. Each social worker serves between 12 and 15 people, so they have to cover long distances on foot, delivering everything necessary (food, medicines, hygiene products, drinking water, etc.). That is why the three-wheeled electric bicycles were received specifically by the social workers of the Home Care Social Assistance Department of the Korabelnyi district, who face daily difficulties due to the long distances between the households of the people they serve.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of Husiatyn Settlement Council (Ternopilska Oblast) received three electric bicycles

Halyna Chovhan, Social Worker at the Center for the Provision of Social Services of the Husiatyn Settlement Council

“A characteristic feature of our community is its rural status, large territorial extent, dispersion of settlements, inadequate road quality, poor bus connections, and lack of public transport. As a result, my colleagues face the daily problem of overcoming tens of kilometers to reach their clients. Some of the older people we serve, in addition to accompaniment and household assistance, often require essential food products, household goods, and medications. Therefore, we very often have to carry bulky loads by hand, hire taxis, or use our own cars to fulfill requests or meet the needs of our clients.

The provision of electric bicycles significantly facilitates, simplifies, and speeds up our work, allowing us to save time spent commuting. In addition, greater mobility will ensure physical relief and add time for providing housekeeping services to people who, due to age or health conditions, cannot cope with social challenges on their own.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of Solotvyno Settlement Council (Zakarpatska Oblast) received three electric bicycles

Liubov Dudla, Head of the Social Protection Department of the Solotvyno Settlement Council

“Our community is mountainous, with scattered settlements and difficult logistics. Although we are not in the frontline zone, the war affects everyone. Due to martial law, we have hosted 4,604 IDPs who need support. Currently, we serve over 100 recipients of social services, a significant part of whom are IDPs, as well as elderly people and people with disabilities. There are dozens of single people on record who need daily social support. They are served by six social workers who cover great distances in difficult conditions. The received cargo bicycles are extremely practical for mountain conditions. They make it possible to quickly reach people in remote villages, deliver food, hygiene products, or other essential items without relying on fuel. This is a real tool of support in daily work with people who need attention and help.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of Zabolotiv Settlement Council (Ivano-Frankivska Oblast) received two electric bicycles

Ivanna Hordiichuk, Director of the Center for the Provision of Social Services of the Zabolotiv Settlement Council

“One of the center’s services is the Home Care social service, assistance to single incapacitated older people and people with disabilities, most of whom live in remote corners of the community. The social workers of the Zabolotiv community are people with big hearts who cover approximately 5–8 km to help their clients. A mobile type of transport, such as an electric bicycle, will enable social workers to use their working time more effectively and significantly facilitate their work of delivering food, medicines, and household goods to clients. We express our sincere gratitude to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine and the Charity Foundation ‘Stabilization Support Services’ for their constant help and support.”

Territorial Center for Social Services (Provision of Social Services) of Myrnohrad (Donetska Oblast) received two electric bicycles

Kateryna Kovalevska, Acting Director of the Territorial Center for Social Services (Provision of Social Services) of Myrnohrad, Donetska Oblast

“Despite all the difficulties of wartime, social workers of the territorial center continue to provide social services to residents of the Myrnohrad city community who require outside care and have evacuated to the Tsarychanka settlement community within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership between the parties. Three-wheeled bicycles enhance the mobility of social workers, particularly in rural areas and regions with poor road surfaces, where it is challenging to navigate on a two-wheeled bicycle. Such bicycles enable faster and more effective assistance to clients, allowing them to deliver food, humanitarian aid, medicines, and other essential items. The Territorial Center expresses its sincere gratitude to the Charity Foundation ‘Stabilization Support Services’ for the help.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of the Korovyntsi Community (Sumska Oblast) received three electric bicycles

Tamara Olefirenko, Head of the Department for the Organization and Provision of Social Assistance (Social Services) at Home, Center for the Provision of Social Services of Korovyntsi Community

“Every employee of our Center has recipients of social services whom they need to visit five times a week. It is necessary to deliver groceries, personal hygiene items, and medicines to people; to assist with household chores; and to prepare food for others. Most of these people have no one to rely on but us. So, electric bicycles are not just convenient transport, but real support for our social workers. We have dreamed of them for several years. Now we will be able to get to people who need help much faster. Constant alarms, the sounds of Shaheds, and the echoes of explosions do not pass without a trace. The majority of the population needs psychological help and support. We try to provide it. Thank you for supporting us.”

The Center for the Provision of Social Services of Pivdenne City Council (Kharkivska Oblast) received four electric bicycles

The Team of the Center for the Provision of Social Services of Pivdenne City Council

“Thanks to the support of the CO CF Stabilization Support Services, the service for people who require social assistance at home has significantly improved. The management and staff of the Center for the Provision of Social Services of Pivdenne City Council are sincerely grateful for the help and the electric bicycles. Thanks to the bicycles, social workers deliver food products, hygiene items, drinking water, and medications faster and with better quality to people with disabilities, internally displaced people, those affected by hostilities, and older people.”

The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” has been distributing bicycles to social protection institutions for the third consecutive year. In 2023, institutions received 500 bicycles, and in 2024, 286 bicycles were received. We are implementing this initiative thanks to the Support to the Capacity of Government Institutions and Local Communities To Strengthen Social Protection Systems in Ukraine project, which is implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
