Active repair work is ongoing in the homes of Kherson residents that were damaged due to hostilities. Thanks to the Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project, our team has already repaired many homes, and even more are currently in the process of being restored. These repairs are focused on preparing for the cold weather and include fixing windows, external and internal doors, roofs, and balcony units.
Among those who now have brand-new windows are Lidiya (name changed for security reasons) and her husband. The couple lives on the fourth floor of a five-story building. After a strike in their courtyard, all four windows in their apartment were destroyed, tiles in the kitchen were blown off, and many household items were severely damaged by fragmentation.
“The explosion shattered our windows on New Year’s night, and you’ve finally replaced them for us. I remember we had just gone to bed, and what saved us was the thick, heavy curtains in the bedroom, which stopped all the fragments. It’s a miracle we weren’t injured,” Lidiya recalls. “We boarded up the windows with fiberboard and plastic and lived like that until you came to help us with the repairs. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the money for this ourselves. But your Foundation did everything beautifully, plastered and painted.”

Lidiya spent her entire life working as a teacher in Kherson, where she has lived for nearly eighty years. She was born and raised here, started a family, and stayed even during the occupation. She speaks positively about our project, praising the politeness, speed, precision, and professionalism of the entire team.
We are also happy to support Lidiya’s family. This assistance was made possible through the Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in collaboration with the humanitarian organization CARE Ukraine and the Ukraine Response Consortium, with financial support from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
