Third Year Without Drinking Water: CF SSS Joins International Organizations’ Convoy to Stepnohirsk Village

The team of the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” delivered a convoy of bottled drinking water to the residents of the Stepnohirsk village in Zaporizka Oblast.

According to the village starosta Iryna Anatoliyivna, Stepnohirsk has been deprived of drinking water for three years. Before the full-scale invasion, the village had a centralized water supply, but now all the water wells are broken due to the hostilities. There is currently no way to restore them.

“We can’t provide people with drinking water using barrels, so we must bring it twice a week and then carry it in buckets to the 9th floor without an elevator. That’s why we are very happy when people help us and bring us bottled water,” says Iryna.

Currently, 550 families live in Stepnohirsk.

“People are very happy and grateful that they were able to get water,” says the village starosta. “The residents are forced to keep saving water to wash vegetables and fruits, to cook, and to leave some for hygiene. So they really need this help.”

The village is located 4 kilometers away from the frontline. The distribution was carried out in small groups, as Stepnohirsk is constantly under shelling.

The assistance was provided within the framework of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
