Recently, CF SSS handed over 10 laptops to the Zaporizka Oblast Transit Center to facilitate the registration of people evacuated from frontline communities in Zaporizka Oblast and provide them with social services.
The center received this assistance as part of a project to support the capacity of the social protection system, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
Yaroslav Matiash, UNHCR Community-Based Protection Associate, said, “Today we are handing over 10 modern laptops to the transit center for evacuees in Zaporizhzhia to speed up the operational work of its multidisciplinary team. We heard the request of our colleagues and partners who assist internally displaced persons and provided technical support to the center. This will contribute to ensuring human rights and providing rapid access to social services during the critical first hours after evacuation.”
The transit center began its operations on November 20, 2025, based at the Zaporizhzhia Geriatric Nursing Home. Since then, its services have been used by 7,657 people, including 1,811 persons with reduced mobility and 1,130 children. Its key task is to provide emergency assistance to evacuated individuals in accordance with the single-window principle.
“This means that within one location, people can receive a full range of necessary services, including social, psychological, and legal assistance, as well as support with accommodation and the organization of further transportation. The provided laptops will be used to register evacuated people. This will allow for more staff to be involved in the registration process and significantly speed it up. Furthermore, such equipment will help optimize data processing, reduce registration time in case of a significant influx of evacuees, and increase the overall efficiency of the center’s work,” said Svitlana Lysenko, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Zaporizka Oblast Military Administration.
“The focus of our attention is on people who, due to constant shelling, are forced to leave their homes and start their lives virtually from scratch. For evacuated residents of the frontline areas of Zaporizhzhia, the transit center becomes the first stop on the road to safety. We want to create conditions where people who have already endured extremely difficult trials do not waste their remaining strength waiting in line. New computer equipment is, first and foremost, a tool that makes care for internally displaced persons more effective and individualized. Together with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine, we care about protecting the rights of IDPs and supporting those affected by the war. After all, the opportunity to receive quality social services on time is where a person’s successful adaptation in a new community begins,” noted Olha Dzerzhynska, Project Manager.
We support those affected by the war through the Support to the Capacity of Government Institutions and Local Hromadas to Strengthen Social Protection Systems in Ukraine project, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
