The Foundation regularly provides drinking water to the Daryivska and Kalynivkska communities of Khersonska Oblast, which face a water shortage following flooding and constant shelling. Our team collects water from the Mykolaiv water utility, tests its quality, and then delivers it to the respective settlements. In some villages, we transfer water to tanks. Unfortunately, special water tanks are not available everywhere, so we distribute water directly from the vehicle in some places. Our specialists monitor the situation and adjust the frequency of deliveries depending on the needs of a particular settlement.
Valentyna, a representative of the village council of the Daryivska community, says that the water delivered by the Foundation is in demand and that this assistance is timely.
“In wells and boreholes, water is only for technical needs and cannot be consumed. Drinking water can be bought, but not everyone has the money to do so. Therefore, we really need the water you deliver. People keep coming and taking the amount they need,” says Valentyna. “The water quality is good, and we use it all the time at work.”
According to her, some villages need even more water, but there are not enough tanks to store it.
The assistance is provided within the framework of the Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project, implemented by the CF SSS together with the humanitarian organization CARE Ukraine and the Response Consortium. The program is funded by the USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
