Quick Response and Support Mechanism for the Affected Population in the South of Ukraine (Kakhovka Dam Destruction)

The main focus of the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” is to assist individuals affected by the war. We continually encounter a myriad of challenges. While some can be anticipated and planned for, others emerge unexpectedly, necessitating a quicker reaction. The “Quick Response and Support Mechanism for the Affected Population in the South of Ukraine (Kakhovka Dam Destruction)” project has enabled us to extend specific help to those who are in need swiftly. Since June 6, the Foundation has provided assistance to the Kryvorizka, Khersonska, and Snihurivska communities. This project is slated to continue until September 30.

— “This initiative holds significant importance for us since we managed to secure necessary supplies for the directly affected individuals within 48 hours of the Kakhovka dam disaster,” underscored Anna Borysova, the Humanitarian Response Director and Project Manager.

The primary goal of the project is to mitigate the impact of the Kakhovka dam destruction, but it was paramount for us to address the urgent needs of the affected population promptly. The situation evolves with each passing hour, meaning yesterday’s necessities may not hold relevance today. Through this project, we have the agility to alter the nature and scope of the aid swiftly, delivering it exactly when it is most crucial.

For instance, in the initial 48 hours following the disaster, we procured nearly 47,000 euros worth of assistance, encompassing:

  • 10 boat engines;
  • 50 life jackets;
  • 50 protective outfits;
  • A flexible hose;
  • A sleeve;
  • Rubber footwear;
  • A motorized dirty water pump;
  • Water filters;
  • 19,000 liters of water;
  • 5 large water cisterns.

We also plan to procure the following:

  • Bottled potable water, household non-food humanitarian relief kits, and hygiene kits;
  • Water sanitization and cleansing agents (hypochlorite) for water service providers;
  • Bedding sets (a mattress, 2 pillows, blanket, bedspreads), mobile water extraction and purification units, portable water purification and sterilization units, and moisture eliminators;
  • Kits for institutions (for educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and community centers) assisting the survivors.

The total budget of the project is 400,000 euros.

The project is implemented by CO CF SSS together with the humanitarian organization CARE with the financial backing of Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH).
